TERRYA – A Place of Presence
Located in Serabit El Khadim, on Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, TERRYA is a land art intervention created in late 2021 and early 2022. Near the region’s only pharaonic temple — dedicated to Hathor, goddess of music, dance, creativity, and turquoise — the artist was deeply moved by the beauty of the site and the environmental damage generally in Sinai caused by careless visitors.
In response, she shaped a local stone into a symbol of respect for nature at the bottom of the temple on the land of the beduins. TERRYA now stands as a quiet marker — a place of reflection that invites visitors to slow down, listen, and honour the land with care and awareness.
